Hey there 👋

My name is Pankaj and I am a passionate web developer who has been building web applications since 2013. I started my journey with PHP and then mostly worked on Laravel. Nowadays, I am primarily working on Javascript stack (Node JS, React JS, Next JS, and Vue JS).

I am currently working as a Sr. Software Engineer in Jaipur (RJ), India. I also build my own personal side projects in my free time.

I am passionate about the following things:

  1. Writing (most of my non-tech writings are in my Notion notes)
  2. Sharing my knowledge
  3. Shaping different ideas to reality
  4. Make things easier by building something efficient
  5. Reading books (Currently reading Eat that Frog by Brian Tracy)

I play a lot of games when I feel less productive. Here is the list of my favorite steam games:

  1. Insurgency: SandStorm
  2. Crusader Kings 3
  3. Skyrim Special Edition
  4. Grand Theft Auto V
  5. Dying Light
  6. Middle Earth: Shadow of War
  7. The Witcher 3

Here is the list of steam games that I used to play but not anymore:

  1. Vampyr
  2. Counter-Strike
  3. Pubg
  4. Left 4 Dead 2
  5. Sleeping Dogs

About my blog

I created this blog Slashism to share what I know. The slash word here is related to the slashes we have in the tags like </>.

I am going to focus on web development and a few other random code-related articles on this blog.

I also write and talk about non-technical stuff on my other blog (link coming soon).

How I got into the web development

I always wanted to be a doctor when I was a kid but everything changed once I got a computer in the last year of my school days. I fell in love with it. Although I was still distant from anything related to programming. It was the time when I had a dial-up internet connection with a speed of 5 Kbps or even less.

I didn't get into the web development until this incident, which changed everything. I was scammed by someone on a forum for a PHP script. It was a GPT(Get-Paid-To) script that I bought so I could start a website, although I had zero programming experience.

So I decided to learn it and do it myself than rely on those scammers. This changed the course of my life and honestly, I don't regret it. I love what I do.

Achievements

To be honest, I am a man with no greater achievements so far. I have small victories that I am willing to turn into major ones someday.

Focus areas

I am trying to focus on the following things right now-

  1. Write articles consistently on my blogs
  2. Contribute to open source projects
  3. Learn Typescript
  4. Learn Python
  5. Learn React Native
  6. Work on my secret side project
  7. Regular Yoga

Fun facts about me

I barely consume any caffeine. 😁 I am a sweet lemonade and sweet yogurt lover.

I am not a fan of Cricket sport. Trust me, every single Indian you would meet, would be in love with this game. It's the most loved sport in India. People are crazy about it here. But not me. So please don't hate me for this.
